Purchases

Purchases are the primary way the state has secured PPE, accounting for about 88 percent of items received so far. Donations make up about 5 percent of PPE received. Arrival time for orders can range from days to weeks.

To date:

  • $408.7 million worth of PPE ordered.
  • $101.9 million of ordered PPE has arrived, been paid for and has been distributed or is being processed for distribution.

Data highlights

June 30 – July 5 purchased and received items:

  • June 30 highlights – Received more than 10 million PPE items, including 4.5 million surgical masks and 4.4 million cloth masks.
  • July 1 highlights – Received more than 500,000 items, including 340,000 gowns and 190,000 gloves. Distributed 239,000 items, including 220,000 surgical masks.
  • July 2 highlights – Received more than 5.9 million items, including 3.5 million gloves, 2 million KN95 respirator masks, and 396,000 gowns. Distributed more than 1.6 million items, including 562,000 gloves, 474,000 surgical masks, 220,000 face shields, 204,000 KN95 masks and 90,000 N95 masks.

June 23-29 purchased and received items:

  • June 23 highlights – Distributed more than 260,000 PPE items, including 236,000 cloth masks. Processing more than 1.9 million items for distribution. Received 322,000 items, including 247,000 surgical masks.
  • June 24 highlights – Distributed more than 314,000 PPE items, including 154,000 surgical masks and 110,000 cloth masks. Received more than 400,000 items, including 398,000 gowns and 5,000 thermometers.
  • June 25 highlights – Distributed more than 2.3 million PPE items, including 1.3 million gloves, 570,000 surgical masks, 289,000 N95 respirator masks, and 157,000 gowns. Received more than 835,000 items, including 792,000 gowns, 26,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and 16,000 face shields.
  • June 26 highlights – Distributed 142,000 items, including 62,000 gloves, 27,000 surgical masks, 21,000 KN95 respirator masks and 14,000 N95 respirator masks. Received more than 887,000 items, including 851,000 gowns and 21,000 face shields.
  • June 29 highlights – Received 552 Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) filters.

June 16-22 purchased and received items:

  • June 16 highlights – Distributed more than 870,000 million PPE items, including 600,000 cloth masks, 95,000 gloves and 75,000 N95 respirator masks. Processed more than 3.4 million items for distribution, including 1.7 million surgical masks, 785,000 gloves and 573,000 N95 respirator masks.
  • June 17 highlights – Received more than 2.3 million PPE items, including 2 million surgical masks and 353,000 gloves. Processed 1 million items for distribution, including 920,000 cloth masks.
  • June 18 highlights – Received more than 6 million items, including 5.7 million surgical masks and 263,000 gowns.
  • June 19 highlights – Distributed 2.6 million items, including 1 million cloth masks, 647,000 surgical masks, 516,000 gloves and 181,000 N95 respirator masks. Received nearly 2 million items, including g1.2 million surgical masks, 559,000 gowns, and 145,000 gloves.
  • June 22 highlights – Distributed more than 3.4 million items, including 1.3 million surgical masks, 559,000 N95 respirator masks, 744,000 gloves, 543,000 cloth masks and 189,000 gowns. Received more than 6.1 million items, including 5.2 million surgical masks, and 543,000 gowns.

June 9-15 purchased and received items:

  • June 9 highlights – Distributed more than 3.2 million PPE items, including 1.6 million gloves, 1.2 million surgical masks, 200,000 gowns and 113,000 KN95 respirator masks. Received 1.3 million items, including 817,000 KN95 respirator masks and 498,000 gowns.
  • June 10 highlights – Placed 5.3 million N95 respirator masks into inventory. Received more than 2.9 million additional items, including 1.2 million surgical masks, 1 million gowns, and 500,000 cloth masks. Distributed more than 1 million items, including 493,000 gloves, 471,000 surgical masks, and 90,000 gowns.
  • June 11 highlights – Received more than 1.7 million items, including 1.1 million gowns, 500,000 cloth masks, and 366,000 KN95 respirator masks.
  • June 15 highlights – Distributed 1.3 million PPE items, including 496,000 surgical masks, 486,000 gloves, 194,000 gowns and 159,000 KN95 respirator masks. Received more than 1.7 million items, including 1 million cloth masks, 384,000 KN95 respirator masks, 201,000 surgical masks and 93,000 gowns.

June 2-8 purchased and received items:

  • June 2 highlights – Received more than 5.7 million PPE items, including 5.1 million gloves and 558,000 gowns. Distributed more than 600,000 items, including 412,000 surgical masks and 147,000 gloves.
  • June 3 highlights – Received more than 3.9 million PPE items, including 3.8 million surgical masks. Distributed 858,000 items, including 390,000 surgical masks, 250,000 gloves, and 138,000 gowns.
  • June 4 highlights – Distributed more than 1.3 million PPE items, including 733,000 gloves, 446,000 surgical masks and 89,000 gowns. Received 588,000 items, including 200,000 surgical masks, 179,000 face shields and 180,000 KN95 respirator masks.
  • June 5 highlights – Received more than 4.7 million PPE items, including 2.9 million gloves, 1.5 million surgical masks and 248,000 face shields.
  • June 8 highlights – Distributed more than 600,000 PPE items, including 500,000 KN95 respirator masks.

May 26 – June 1 purchased and received items:

  • May 26 highlights – Distributed more than 12.7 million PPE items, including 6 million gloves, 5.6 million surgical masks, 531,000 gowns and 274,000 KN95 masks. Received more than 7.5 million items, including 4.7 million surgical masks, 1.9 million gloves, and 695,000 KN95 masks.
  • May 27 highlights – Distributed more than 3.1 million PPE items, including 1.4 million gloves, 1 million surgical masks, and 280,000 gowns and 215,000 KN95 masks. Received nearly 500,000 items, including 334,000 KN95 masks and 108,000 gowns.
  • May 28 highlights – Received more than 7.7 million PPE items, including 6.6 million surgical masks, 393,000 gloves, 392,000 gowns and 300,000 face shields.

May 19 – May 25 purchased and received items:

  • May 19 highlights – More than 450,000 PPE items distributed, including 249,000 gloves, 65,000 bottles of hand sanitizer, 54,000 gowns, and 27,000 surgical masks. More than 1.9 million items in warehouse and being processed for distribution, including 1 million gloves, 600,000 surgical masks, 240,000 cloth masks, and 155,000 KN95 masks.
  • May 20 highlights – Received more than 3.4 million PPE items, including 2.7 million surgical masks, 468,000 gowns, and 147,000 FFP/KN90 respirator masks. Distributed more than 122,000 gloves.
  • May 21 highlights – Distributed more than 536,000 PPE items, including 272,000 gloves, 108,000 surgical masks, and 100,000 cloth masks. Received more than 730,000 items, including 549,000 gowns and 130,000 face shields.
  • May 22 highlights – Distributed more than 1.9 million PPE items, including 796,000 gloves, 354,000 surgical masks, 330,000 KN95 masks, 271,000 gowns, and 146,000 cloth masks and 2,000 thermometers. Processed more than 13 million items for distribution.
  • May 23 highlights – Received more than 1.8 million PPE items, including 1.7 million surgical masks and 48,000 face shields.

May 12 – May 18 purchased and received items:

  • May 12 highlights – More than 1.3 million PPE items being processed for distribution, including 788,000 gloves, 224,000 surgical masks, 119,000 cloth masks and 82,000 gowns.
  • May 13 highlights – Received more than 2.5 million PPE items, including 2.3 million gloves, 18,00 cloth masks and 15,000 face shields. Distributed more than 1.3 million items.
  • May 14 highlights – Received more than 4.2 million PPE items, including 4.2 million gloves and 2,500 thermometers. Distributed more than 740,000 items, including 418,000 surgical masks, 150,000 KN95 respirator masks, 107,000 gloves, and 54,000 gowns.
  • May 15 highlights – Received more than 860,000 PPE items, including 800,000 surgical masks, 47,000 gloves and 15,000 face shields.
  • May 16 highlights – Received more than 8.7 million PPE items, including 6.6 million gloves, 1.7 million surgical masks, and 85,000 face shields. Distributed more than 2.6 million items, including 1 million gloves, 761,000 surgical masks, 499,000 KN95 masks, 180,000 gowns, and 119,000 cloth masks.
  • May 18 highlights – Received more than 3.9 million PPE items, including 3.5 million surgical masks, 150,000 gloves and 240,000 cloth masks.

May 4 – May 11 purchased and received items:

  • May 5 highlights – Distributed more than 6.8 million PPE items, including 4.2 million gloves, 2.1 million surgical masks, 200,000 KN95 respirator masks, 160,000 gowns, 25,000 face shields and 3,000 thermometers.
  • May 6 highlights – More than 400,000 PPE items being processed for distribution, including 250,000 gloves, 66,000 gowns and 65,000 surgical masks.
  • May 7 highlights – More than 2 million PPE items distributed, including 1.3 million gloves, 240,000 surgical gloves, 140,000 gowns, 126,000 KN95 respirator masks, 67,000 cloth masks and 29,000 face shields.
  • May 8 highlights – Distributed more than 300,000 PPE items, including 128,000 gloves, 105,000 surgical masks, and 80,000 gowns.
  • May 9 highlights – Received more than 300,000 PPE items, including 191,000 gowns, 108,000 gloves, and 97,000 surgical masks.
  • May 11 highlights – Distributed more than 600,000 PPE items, including 271,000 KN95 respirator masks, 196,000 gloves, 118,000 gloves and 43,000 gowns. Received nearly 1 million surgical masks and 119,000 cloth masks.

Retooled manufacturers

We are in the early stages as local companies come on-line to ramp up their production capacities and produce items. So far:

  • As of June 15, more than 100 Washington manufacturers have re-tooled.
  • State to purchase the full production capacity from five manufacturers for respirator and surgical masks, hand sanitizer and face shields.
  • Other retooled companies are selling items directly to hospitals and other local entities.
