Gov. Jay Inslee today announced the state has distributed nearly $365 million in federal funds to help with COVID-19 response and relief efforts across Washington.

The Washington State Department of Health is encouraging people in our state to limit summer travel plans to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

A small neighborhood in the Bellingham area decided to do a competition. As a group, the neighbors decided they wanted to limit unnecessary trips to the store, so they created a competition – which household could go the longest without stepping foot into a store? If a household had to do a trip, then the whole family danced in the street to show the neighbors that they lost. What happened was an example of how neighbors need to help neighbors during any kind of disaster.

Gov. Jay Inslee today issued a new proclamation in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. Inslee also announced the extension of the Tribal Fuel Tax Refund Restrictions proclamation.

Because schools have been closed due to COVID-19, families in Washington state will soon have food benefits available to them to help buy groceries while children have been home from school. Called Pandemic EBT, or P-EBT, these food benefits are available to families with children in grades K-12 who are eligible for schools’ free or reduced-price meal programs. The Public Charge rule does not apply to P-EBT benefits and will not impact immigration status.

Gov. Jay Inslee and Sec. John Wiesman announced today the Washington State Department of Health is putting a pause on counties moving to Phase 4 though the Safe Start phased approach. Rising cases across the state and concerns about continued spread of the COVID virus have made Phase 4, which would essentially mean no restrictions, impossible at this time. 

Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler extended an emergency order that requires insurers to extend deadlines relating to withheld depreciation for policyholders who are in the process of completing home or building repairs as part of a property loss claim under a replacement cost policy.

The Department of Health is identifying an additional 88 hospitalizations statewide today, most of which have occurred in the past week but have gone unreported. Counties with a large impact include Yakima (16), King (21), Benton (8), Pierce (9), Franklin (6), Snohomish (5) and Spokane (6).
